Silver Anniversary Fun Day Delivers a Memorable Community Celebration

Published: 12 May 2026

Holybrook Parish marked its Silver Anniversary in style as residents and visitors turned out in impressive numbers for a Fun Day that delivered sunshine, smiles and something for everyone. With perfect weather setting the tone, the event quickly became one of the most well-attended community gatherings in recent years.

Holybrook Parish Council extends its heartfelt appreciation to all parish residents and visitors who came along, supported the day, and helped create such a vibrant atmosphere. Their enthusiasm and community spirit were at the heart of the event's success.

Thanks, are also due to the parish councillors for the part they played throughout the day- supporting activities, welcoming visitors, and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Special recognition goes to Cllr Karen Albanese, the main planner behind the event, whose organisation, coordination and attention to detail ensured that every element was in place for a seamless and enjoyable celebration.

A wide variety of stall holders added colour and character to the Fun Day, from food vendors serving crowd-pleasing favourites to talented arts and crafts makers showcasing their work. Their contribution brought energy, flavour and creativity to the event, offering plenty for visitors to explore.

Entertainment was a highlight throughout the day. Performance from the choir and a skilled guitarist provided a lively soundtrack, while Hospital Radio Reading broadcast live from the event, bringing the excitement to listeners at Royal Berks and the local area, which added a professional flourish to the festivities. Children had so much fun drumming, learning circus skills, playing mini golf and so much more.

Residents and visitors alike, enjoyed a special display featuring photographs from the Blooming Beauties Garden Photography Competition, with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners announced close to the end of the day. Alongside this, a collection of historical photographs and noteworthy information about the parish's past drew considerable interest, giving those present a chance to reflect on Holybrook's heritage as they celebrated its 25-year milestone.

The Silver Anniversary Fun Day not only showcased the parish's vibrant present but also honoured its roots, bringing together community pride, local talent and shared history. The Parish Council looks forward to building on this momentum as Holybrook continues to grow, thrive and celebrate the people who make it such a special place to live.
