Local Government Reorganisation proposals: Formal responses and representation letter now available

Published: 17 November 2025

Holybrook Parish Council would like to extend its sincere thanks to all residents who attended our recent Parish Meeting and drop-in sessions on Local Government Reorganisation. We are especially grateful to everyone who took the time to complete and return the resident questionnaires. Your input has been invaluable in helping the Parish Council understand the views of our community.

All comments and questions submitted have been carefully reviewed, and each question has been raised with the appropriate authority for a formal response. Feedback provided by residents has also been used to shape the Parish Council’s official letter of representation, submitted to West Berkshire Council, Reading Borough Council, and the Secretary of State, for consideration in their decision-making.

It is important to note that this exercise was not a formal consultation. Instead, it was an important opportunity for the Parish Council to hear residents’ views and ensure a fair representation of our community.

Residents are reminded that the District Councils will decide whether to submit reorganisation proposals to the Secretary of State. Following that, it will be for the Secretary of State to determine whether any proposals will be taken forward for formal public consultation. The Parish Council will continue to keep residents updated as more information becomes available.
